A lot of people got really scared when his first album hit the stands. "Please don't tell me he's leaving Petra." Relax. He's not going anywhere. But like most lead vocalist, Schlitt felt the need to stretch his abilities and let his hair down a little bit more. Enter SHAKE, the debut album from an artist already extremely well-known in Christian radio. The raspy tenor didn't fall to far from the tree as far as sound goes. SHAKE and the second albun UNFIT FOR SWINE are filled with Petra like harmonies and arrangements. But be careful, this is not Petra. Schlitt heads into some new vocal and writing territory hinted at on the Petra release REACH OUT (Schlitt wrote the title track for that album). It's good to see a lead vocalist step away from his band and expand himself, but John, don't leave the band OK? We'll miss you waaay too much!
