Rebecca St. James
Is it a younger
version of Amy Grant? Nope. And she hears the comparison all the time.
It could be physical resemblance... and a vocal resemblance. It can't be
musical. The sound of Rebecca St. James is so much more mature than Amy
in her late teens (No offense Amy). Also, the style is different. In fact,
sometimes, tunes like the hit single, "Side By Side" seem closer
to Amy's HEART IN MOTION. Oops, I'm still comparing the two. Make no mistake
about it though. Rebecca St. James is an artist in her own right. One listen
to the album GOD shows a young lady who will blaze a trail of her own.
Impeccable songwriting and a vocal delivery that is intense and emotional.
This writer's choice for best new female act of the 90's thus far. (Clay
Crosse was my choice for best new male artist.).
