It's no secret that many consider singer/songwriter/pianist Steve Camp a prophetic voice to modern society. The fact is, Camp is often compared to another modern day prophet of this generation, the late Keith Green. Camp's voice rings like a raspy tenor cry in the wilderness of apathy. He admits that in his early days he was a fireball prone to point out the faults of others; calling for justice but offering little mercy. A change in tone became evident with the release of SHAKE ME TO WAKE ME where in the title track Camp compares himself to a Pharisee and asks for God to shake him awake. What emerges over the next few years is a man whose passion for Justice and Holiness has been matched by his dependence on Mercy and Grace as the words "you should" become "we should". Though he is still not hesitant to provide the prophetic voice so needed in the world today with selections such as "Justice" and "Consider The Cost", Camp also brings along the oil and the wine for healing with offerings such as "He is All You Need", "For Every Time" and "He Is Able". His album, MERCY IN THE WILDERNESS borders on praise and worship, but rarely loses the Camp edge.
