Biography of Author

Born in the baby-boom year of 1945, Stephen Amy was raised in a family of six by Christian parents in the environment of the Baptist Church in southern California. After the deaths of his father and brother in early adolescence, Steve drifted away from the church in his teens and early twenties. But after four years in the Navy, including two trips to Vietnam, and while working as a vice officer for the Los Angeles Police Department, Steve came to faith in Christ. Determined to serve the Lord, Steve left the police department for a college education. After two years at Biola College and graduation from California State University, Steve returned to Talbot Seminary, the graduate school of Biola College. While at Talbot, Steve was called to pastor the Grace Baptist Church of Long Beach, California, where he remained for five years.

From the earliest days at Biola Steve developed an intense interest in the book of Revelation, becoming convinced that its timely message of worship was not being communicated in existing literature. His study of Revelation, begun in 1973, has included translating the book and extensive research into collateral Scripture and the existing body of literature on Revelation.

Steve currently serves as the Associate Pastor of Christ Evangelical Church in Orem, Utah. Steve and his wife, Sonja, have belonged to the church and resided in Utah fifteen years.

The Christ Evangelical Church, which has grown from 25 to over 600 in the last 15 years under the leadership of the senior Pastor Scott McKinney, is vitally involved in supporting church plants in Utah, including Park City, Delta, Draper, west Jordan and outside Utah, in Annapolis, Maryland. The church also supports the work of an indigenous evangelical church in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

Christ Evangelical Church is affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America.
