Captain’s Log: Stardate 50357.4 ~ Since returning from the Delta Quadrant the Missouri has been at the Utopia Planatia Shipyards for three weeks. The ship needed major structrual repairs due to the stresses encountered while transversing the wormhole. The repairs are now complete. The crew as well as myself are anxious to find out what our next mission will be and get back out into space. Commander Kern and I have a meeting with Captain Picard of the Enterprise in a few minutes. I look forward to that meeting. I have not seen my old friend Will Riker for some time and I look forward to catching up with him on our lives and my encounter with our old friend Kathryn Janeway.

Duncan tossed the Padd onto the desk in his ready room and turned to face the window. There were a number of starships inside the starbase. The U.S.S. Kongo, a New Orleans class vessel, had just been towed in with burns on her hull from the poleron beams the Dominion uses. The starboard warp nacelle was completely severed away. It would be quite some time before she was ready to re-enter service. Duncan made a mental note to send Captain Fitzsimmons of the Kongo his regards. On the other side of the spacedock sat the pride of starfleet ingenuity. The U.S.S. Enterprise-E, Soverign class. She is a beautiful ship, so sleek and powerful. As much as MacDermott admired the Enterprise, he would not trade the Missouri and her crew for anything. He was brought out of his thoughts by the door chime. “Come.”, he said.

Thomas Kern entered the room. “Sir, It’s just about time for our meeting on the Enterprise. Mr. Kelley has the conn. I’m ready whenever you are.”, he said.

“OK, Let’s get going. XO, have you ever met Captain Picard or Commander Riker?”

Kern said, “No, I haven’t. I understand you graduated from the academy with Commander Riker.”

“More than that. We were roommates our last year. We had quite a time.” Duncan smiled. “Will always has been quite a ladies’ man.”, MacDermott said as he walked out of his ready room.

Fifteen minutes later, MacDermott and Kern walked through the airlock connecting the station and the Enterprise. A lovely woman with long dark hair in a blue uniform walked up to them. “Welcome to the Enterprise, Gentlemen. I am Councellor Deanna Troi. Allow me to escort you to the conference room.”, she said shaking each man’s hand.

“Thank you, Councellor, I am Captain Duncan MacDermott and this is my first officer, Commander Thomas Kern of the U.S.S. Missouri. It’s a pleasure to be aboard the Enterprise and to finally meet the Imzadi of an old friend.”

Deanna nodded graciously to the Captain and smiled. “So you’re that Duncan MacDermott, I’m honored to finally meet you. Will has told me so much about you.” She paused for a moment to bring a memory back. “Like the time you two were put in charge of the Deltan delegation to the Academy.”

Duncan laughed remembering how they almost got expelled for that incident.

Kern whispered, “Deltans, Captain?” His curiosity peaking.

“I’ll tell you later, Tom.” Duncan whispered and with a smile told Kern he was in for one heck of a story.

A few minutes later, Captain MacDermott and Commander Kern entered the conference room. There were models of all the ships called Enterprise on the wall behind a glass case. Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Commander William T. Riker were having a conversation when Deanna cleared her throat. They turned toward the sound. “Sirs, may I present Captain Dun....”, she started. t

“Duncan! How are you?”, Riker said as he got up and quickly crossed the room.

“I’m fine, How ‘bout you, Will?”, Duncan said as he pumped Riker’s hand enthusiastically. Duncan cocked his head toward Deanna and whispered with a smile. “You told her about the Deltans?”

Riker just smiled and shrugged.

“So Number One, would you care to introduce our guests?”, Picard interjected with a smile.

“Of course, Sir.” Riker said. “Captain Jean-Luc Picard, this is Captain Duncan MacDermott of the U. S. S. Missouri and........”

Duncan took the cue, “This is my Executive Officer Commander Thomas Kern. I’m very pleased to meet you, Captain.” Handshakes and pleasantries were passed all around.
