.....he sits alone with a silence as rigid and hard
as the backbone he uses to support his opinions of me.
Is this to be what keeps me from him?
Too proud in the face of this question I hold my
head high.
As the pain tears through my heart I turn
and with defining sobriety, quietly walk away.
He cannot hurt that which I do not permit him reach.
Instead......
He will come again one day.
With barriers down and heart in hand he will seek the forgiveness
of the one, who's broken spirit he once inflicted an unmentionable hurt.
Half truths and little white lies, like crutches,
will support his plea for a grand and loving reconcilliation.
I am beautiful he notes.
The bruises will have faded to nothing and the physical scars healed,
melting into my creamy white flesh as if they never were.
I am once again the woman he never knew......
With defining sobriety I quietly walk away knowing,
he cannot hurt that which I do not permit him reach.
Instead
