 Study team from Malaysia visits Roxas City By Benny Cortes ROXAS CITY -- A Group Study Exchange (GSE) team from Malaysia were here from June 10 to June 13 as guests of the three Rotary Clubs in this city. According to PP Reuben Yap, GSE District Chairman, the team is composed of Rotarian Audry Wan Ullok, 33, single and member of the Rotary Club of Kuching, Rotary District 3310; Ms. Agnes Khaw, 39, married and a music teacher, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu; Ms. Dayang Zauyah Noor Azirah Ali Bakar, 28, single, and public relations officer with the Kota Kinabalu city Hall; Ms. Wendy Wong, 39, single, and resident manager of a homestead resort in Kota Belud (She is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Likas in Kota Kinabalu); and Zailani Haji Hashim, 36, married and only male member of the team. He is attached with the Prime Minister's Department as head of the Special Task Force in Tawau. The GSE program of the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is an educational program that promotes international understanding thru organized travel and personal contact. The program provides travel grants for teams of young professional men and women to exchange visits between paired areas in different countries for four to six weeks. Yap said that RI District 3850 sent two GSE teams to Singapore and the United States last April, this year. He said that a GSE team from Orlando, Florida, USA, was also in town where they attended the Rotary District Convention held at the Gerry Roxas Convention Hall, Marc's Beach Resort and at CAP Gymnasium, March 15 to 17. The team's itinerary while with the District 3850 as host: May 24, arriving Zamboanga City from Manila; May 24 -27, stay in Zamboanga; May 28, take WGA boat to Iloilo City; May 29, arrival in Iloilo City from Zamboanga City; May 29 - June 2, stay in Iloilo City; June 3, take ferry boat to Bacolod City; June 3 -6, stay in Bacolod; June 7, take ferry boat to Iloilo City; proceed to Kalibo by land; June 8 - 9, stay in Boracay; June 10 - 12 , stay in Roxas City; and June 13, depart from Roxas City to Manila by PAL, then Malaysia.
