Mahaagosi"ngasaala | Mahaagosi"nga Majjhima Muulapa.n.naasa, Mahaayamaka Vagga MN.032 M.i.212-19 19/024 defilements, subtle Discussion of the sort of monk whose virtue would illumine the Gosinga forest at night. Each monk gives his own suggestions: Ananda - one who treasures what has been taught and memorizes the doctrines; Revata - one who delights in meditation and lives in solitude; Anuruddha - one who possesses the celestial eye; Kassapa - a forest dweller; Moggallana - a discusser of the Abhidhamma; Sariputta - one who masters and is not mastered by his mind. To resolve the discussion they visit the Buddha who praises each suggestion in turn and says that he himself would choose a monk who has completely freed himself from defilements.
