Sagaarava | Sa"ngaarava Majjhima Majjhimapa.n.naasa, Braahmana Vagga MN.100 M.ii.209ff. 21/451 good Brahmin, existence of gods One day, Dhananjani tripped up and could not help exclaiming praise to the Buddha. Her husband Sangarava reprimanded her, but she insisted on her faith in the Buddha. Later Sangarava visited the Buddha and asked His attitude to Brahmins. The Buddha said he had great admiration for Brahmins who had practiced until achieving the goal -- saying that He himself was one such. The Buddha explains how he had renounced the household life and practised until attaining enlightenment. Sangarava asks further whether there are any gods. The Buddha answers that of that there is no doubt: the whole world is in agreement on that point. Sangarava is pleased and accepts the Buddha as his teacher.
