Independence is known as "Queen City Of The Trails". Every year around Labor Day we have a celebration known as SantiCaliGon. This is in honor of the three trails back in the 1800's when the frontier was unfolding.

One of Independence's best known people is Harry S. Truman, the 33rd President of the United States of America.
President Truman was born on May 8th 1884 in Lamar, Missouri. He lived on the Truman farm in Grandview, Missouri and worked the farm from 1906 till 1917.

Pres. Truman lived at 219 North Delaware St., Indep., Mo. from 1919 until his death in 1972. During his administration the home was known as "The Summer White House".This was from 1945 thru 1952.

Now, a little something about Kansas City, Mo.
K.C. has some of the best to offer when it comes to sports, Entertainment, the arts, and food.

K.C. also has a wonderful place for families called WORLDS OF FUN and OCEANS OF FUN. These two theme parks are adjacent to one another and are loads of fun!!
Other attractions are the lavish city fountains( there are 27 in all) and the Plaza Lights.
Another fun place is the newly renovated Kansas City Zoo.

K.C.has a rich music heritage. It's pretty well known for it's Jazz, but we also have a wide range of music to choose from, such as country, rock, pop, and classical.There are some great concerts here in K.C. We have the symphony at the Music Hall and the local Denim and Diamonds. Whatever you like. We have it!

K.C. has been called a "Cow Town. I think that image has diminished in recent years.

We also have some very nice Art Gallerys, one of which is the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

Some of My Favorite additions are the numerous Casinos that have come to our area.
