History
Timmins Ski Racers, TSR, has been operating as a non-profit organization for the past nine years. The board of directors is comprised of volunteers nominated by members of TSR whom most are parents of the athletes. There is a constitution that is followed by the board of directors, and they vote on subject accordingly. The board consists of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary Treasurer, Fundraiser Organizer and Equipment Manager. TSR was creative by aggressive people who are avid ski racers. Their goals were and still are to run the very best programs in Canada and demand recognition wherever TSR competes. Their expectations have been surpassed. Each year we send our Juvenile athletes to both provincial and national events to compete against the best in Canada. TSR also organizes the Timmins Slalom Derby, one of the largest races in Ontario, which is three days long and brings 200 athletes to Timmins. Being a part of this organization of eight of the past nine years, I feel the board and the coaches from the past have done a fantastic job making TSR what it is today; a great organization for young athletes to ski, have fun and learn life experiences that they'll never forget. Our priorities lie in seeing that their goals continue into the future.
There is a ten-year program that commences at six years of age. At this age, we start developing skills until the age of sixteen. Once they have reached sixteen years of age, I have the ability to certify them as qualified ski instructor. We have enjoyed great success with our programs; Laurie and Kathy Kriener have skied for Canada at the Olympic level, Greg Chenier and Allison Bobby were a part of the Ontario team and Angela Vachino ranked fifth in Canada at the junior F.I.S. level. These are just a few of the dozens of athletes that have enjoyed success after completing our programs. We develop very positive and strong individuals that use the skills they have acquired for the rest of their lives and relive exciting memories that they'll never forget.
I have been head coach of TSR five times in nine years and conducted the Nancy Green program for 3 years. I truly believe in our organization and programs. My staff and myself are very proud to a part of this organization and we have dedicated ourselves to making sure that our athletes receive the best training and programs that we can give them.
