IR 50/50 Match Information

IR 50/50 is contested on the first Saturday of the month. Practice is allowed from 10AM to 11:40AM. Matches begin at 12 noon. International Rimfire 50/50 is the newest type competition fired at Gateway. This is a bench rest game for 22LR chambered rifles. This is only the beginning of the second year for this event at our club. Most of the competitors have backgrounds in other types of competition and now like to sit down while shooting. A course of fire is 25 shots in 30 minutes with unlimited sighters. The target has 25 bulls for score and 3 sighting bulls. This is fired at 50 yds. and sometimes 50 meters. A perfect score is 250-25x. No one has fired a perfect target to date.

There are three classes of rifles for these tournaments. The rules are simple and easily understood.

The sporter class is shot with a rifle that weights no more than 7.5 pounds with a scope not greater than 6.5 power. Variables can be used if taped at 6.5 power. This rifle must be a repeater and have a unpainted wooden stock with the fore end being convex and not wider than 2.25 inches. Leaves lots of room for experimenting.

The other rifles are the 10.5 &13.5 pound class. Basically weight is the factor, there is no limit on scope power and the stock can be of most any material, with a fore end not to exceed 3 inches.

All classes are fired from rests equipped with sand bags, from benches. (that means you get to sit down a lot)

Match fees are $7 per rifle or all 3 for $20

We shoot from 12 concrete benches. During our monthly tournaments we have 10-15 shooters. Our matches last about 4 hours. You are welcome to come watch and ask questions. This is a game for experimenters as small changes in equipment sometimes make big differences in scores.
