TRINIDAD RIFLE ASSOCIATION

Port of Spain.

Clubhouse & 300 to 600 yard Fullbore Rifle Range

25 m & 50 m UIT Shooting Range

The Trinidad Rifle Association was established in 1879 and is affiliated to the NRA of GB and the International Shooting Union.

Full Bore Rifle shooting is conducted under current NRA(GB) Rules using the 7.62mm(.308) Target Rifle. Full bore range is currently from 300 yards to 600 yards.

The premiere Regional Competition is the West Indies Full Bore Championships, which is held each year, alternately, in Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad, usually in September/October of each year. Teams from Canada and the UK have attended these shoots in the past with a UK team usually taking part every 4 years or so. Bermuda hopes to host this competition in Canada in 2001/2. Some members also participate at Bisley.

Small bore Pistol & Rifle shooting is consistent with UIT Rules. A new addition to range facilities is an indoor air weapon range. Calibres used are .22LR, .32, .38 and .177.

The Small Bore shooters are presently in training for the CAC Games to be held in Venezuela in September and the Copa del Caribe, in Martinique, in November.

There is also a Practical Pistol range. The calibres used are 9mm, .38, .380.

There is also a vibrant Trap & Skeet Association here in Trinidad.
