As I said in the "Gender gap" section, the Democratic Party was TWICE as big as the Republican Party in the 1950s and 1960s and then, when the liberal "Hippie" types took it over from the Populist "Hardhat" types they proceeded to spew venom at white males so they left the Democratic Party. The main DP loss was in the South. As long as the Southern Democrats were in the DP it stayed twice as big as the RP. But when it drove the South out with its big-government love and anti-Christianity it became a much smaller party. But now the DP decided to take revenge on the Southerners who left the DP. Now that the Southern Tobacco staes were no longer automatic Democrat states they made war on them. They attacked one of their major industries: Tobacco. The northern Democrats always knew that tobacco wasnt good for you. Everyone knew that. But the new FAR LIBERAL Democratic Party HATED the white male working class Populists and proceeded to destroy their economy. If the DP still had the 'SOLID SOUTH' as they did for 100 years after the War Between The States, they would NOT be attacking tobacco now. It has NOTHING to do with health, that would be a 1,000 to one coincidence. It has to do with the Liberal Democrats having expected the Southern white male Democrats staying in the DP no matter how much slander they threw at them and their beliefs and the Southerners refusing to take liberal guff and leaving the party whereupon the Liberal Democrats took revenge.
