        Mystery Blast, Fire on
        River Still Puzzle

An explosion and fire on the Ohio River is still puzzling Cincinnati and North Kentucky fire departments today as to its source.

Cincinnati Patrolman William McMillen said he was cruising in the 1900 block of Eastern Avenue in the East End at 11 p.m. yesterday when he heard an explosion and saw a flash. He looked toward the river and saw flames, he said.

Fire Captain John Moorwessel and firemen arrived, saw the flames but decided the fire was on the Kentucky side of the river, notified Bellevue, Ky., firemen.

Bellevue firemen and police searched the area but found nothing. McMillen said it appeared a boat may have been burning near the Kentucky shore.
