Patterson, Missouri
Two students at Southeast Missouri State College, Ron Miller of Piedmont and Joe King of nearby Mill Springs, said that on their drive home from school yesterday afternoon they saw "a silvery object in the sky, something kind of a round shape. Flat on the bottom, with an oval top, above the treetops near Patterson," which is east of here on Highway 34.
Dennis Hovis, young manager of radio station KPWB here, has their statements on tape. Hovis, who said he once was a policeman in St. Louis, identified King as "a man I've known almost all my life." He suggested that King was reliable and trustworthy, and a person he respected as much as Chief Bearden and the other citizens of Piedmont respect Maude Jefferis.
