"It's a bird, it's a plane, its..." Well, nobody knows for sure, but the search was on off Ten Mile Monday a.m. after Bob Curtis, fishing from his ferro-cement troller Kim, reported seeing something.

Fishing about three miles off the beach, Curtis saw a burning object hit the ocean. He called the Coast Guard Cutter Point Ledge, which responded. After searching for several hours, with the aid of a Coast Guard helicopter from San Francisco, the search was abandoned. All that was found was an oil slick and no reports of a missing plane have been received.

Wednesday morning the Point Heyer, standing in for the Point Ledge which is in San Francisco for three days for engine repair, was barely here when they received a call from the fishing vessel "Lincoln." The 45-footer of Brookings, Ore., had suffered engine trouble about tne miles north of Fort Bragg. It was towed to port at Novo. Wallis Durfee is the skipper.
