Tatyana Marisol Ali was born on January 24, 1979 in Brooklyn, NY.
She is 1/2 Panamanian black and 1/2 Trinidadian. She has 2 sisters,
Kimberly and Anastasia who are both younger. Tatyana started her
acting career in Sesame Street when she was just four years old.
Her main acting role from which most people recognise her, was
Ashley Banks in The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. She sang on
several episodes of the show and was eventually persuaded by her
co-star Will Smith to take music seriously and release an album.
Tatyana has appeared in many films and TV shows and sang twice
on Star Search when she was seven.
Tatyana and her family moved to Hollywood in 1990 so she could
film The Fresh Prince. She had a three year relationship
with Jonathon Brandis from Seaquest but ended it last year
as she had to concentrate on her music and Tatyana began as a freshman
at Harvard University in September. She says she will be able
to manage being a full time student and her music career which
some people doubt, but she attended high school the whole time
she was in The Fresh Prince.
