houston concert in sept. '98

Before I let you all read what I know you want to hear, let me just say that anything is possible. . .I never thought I would have even a slim chance to see these three people I respect and cherish so much in person, but a miracle occured. . .it still doesn't seem real. :o) Here are just a few highlights. . .

*When Zac handed his drumsticks to a little boy in the front row, some girls tried to grab them from him. But Zac the Hero saw and said, "Let go of the freakin drumsticks!". He then squirted the girls with his HUGE water gun.

*The crowd was SO loud. . .even Taylor was suprised with how LOUD everyone was. He made a little noise like "Whew. . ." into the microphone.

*Isaac was absoultely wonderful on "More Than Anything." He was truly in his element. . .

*Once it got dark, Taylor asked the crowd to hold up their glowsticks. I didn't have one, though, so I just raised up my hands, like my cousin beside me did. When Taylor looked at our section, not many people had glowsticks, so he kinda said "Well, at least I see some arms over there. . ." *my arms* :o)

*I don't know what Taylor ate for breakfast that morning, but whatever it was gave him some incredible energy! He ran up and down the stage on "Summertime Blues" and when he had his water bottle and Supersoaker. Not to mention that he jumped at least 3 feet into the air while playing his keyboards and singing at the same time. . .

*This brings me to Isaac and his guitar. He's most definitely been practicing all summer long. What a rock star. :o)

*"Magic Carpet Ride" was a huge moment for me. I love that song, and Hanson did it even better than Steppenwolf ever did. :o)

*When I first began to scream (how teeny *lol*) after Hanson took the stage, Zac sort of looked over and laughed a bit. . .

*"With You In Your Dreams" was just so wonderful. They put more soul and heart into this song than any other. . .And I saw Zac with a small grin and a faraway look on his face during this one. . .

*For those of you going to a future Hanson show, make sure to hold your MOE cards high before the show starts. Isaac said he noticed that when he was looking from backstage. :o)

*I loved the little instrumental they played while introducing the backup musicians. And Isaac called every one of them "The Man. . ." followed by their respective name. *lol*

*Taylor taught us how to clap. First, we had to raise our hands together, then put them together really fast. . .Taylor said "I know it's kinda fast, but that's the way it goes. . ."

*Their vocals on the acoustic set were breathtaking. . .

*Like I said above, Isaac is such a rocker! Gotta love the jump and slide. . .

*They gave each other the cutest looks during the acoustic set. :o)

*As if he would get a "no" answer, Taylor had to ask "Do you really want us back?" before the encore. :o)

*Pictures and TV definitely DO NOT do Isaac justice. He is absolutely gorgeous. . .

*ADMIRAL TWIN!!!!! Wow, they rocked! :o) They all wore matching black suits w/ yellowish ties. . .but since it was very very hot, Jarrod (my man. . .*lol*) took his jacket off. I screamed something along the lines of "Oh Yeah!" so then he loosened up his tie w/ a big smile on his face. . .*sigh* Okay, if you wanna know what Hanson wore, here's what I saw:

Isaac-short sleeved brown/black buttondown shirt (which he kept on all evening); black undershirt; black leather pants (which he also kept on all evening *lol*)

Taylor-long-sleeved white button down overshirt (that came off while the set was changed for the acoustic set); tight white undershirt (oh yeah); blue jeans (yea Taylor!)

Zac-short sleeved black shirt w/ white stripe down the side; orange camoflague pants (He must LOVE those things!)

When I got home after the Houston show, I was so exhausted, but I was welcomed by a postcard from none other than Hanson! On the front, there's a picture of all three of them hanging from a car (I think it's from MOE 2) w/ their signatures below their pictures. The back reads: "Thanks for your cool gift! We appreciate you. Touring is great and we hope you were able to be at one of our concerts to see what we love to do! Thanks for your support and "Rock on!" " All of that is in Isaac or Taylor's handwriting. Underneath that is another autograph. :o) It's postmarked from Tulsa, OK. . .

OH, if you're wondering what the "cool gift" was. . .when I went to Tulsa this summer, I left a big ole box of Jelly Belly jellybeans at their old house. That was a couple days before the first Tulsa concert, so I guess they found them when they got home. :o)

All I have to say is that when the tour dates were originally released early this year, I was disappointed that I might never have a chance to realize a dream. . .but with hope, there's *always* possibility. Thank you to Hanson and Admiral Twin who give me reason to appreciate what I get more than what I want. :o)
