Courtney Whitmore was enjoying a great social career at Beverly Hills High
when her mother married "some guy" named Pat Dugan. To Courtney's dismay,
her mom and Pat then decided to escape the pressures of city life and move
to Blue Valley, Nebraska. Stuck in a small town without much to do, Courtney
decided to focus her energy on something more productive, making her stepfather's
life miserable. When Courtney stumbled upon an old box of Pat's memorabilia,
she discovered he was once a hero named Stripesy, sidekick to the original
Star Spangled Kid. So she did what she thought would tick him off the most.
Courtney took the original Kid's cosmic converter belt and posed as the all-new
Star Spangled Kid. Pat retaliated by creating an eight-foot robotic suit,
S.T.R.I.P.E. programmed to follow her around and keep her out of trouble,
something he rarely succeeds in doing.
