Tips

Please make sure you copy the graphics you choose to use to your hard drive (right click on the image and select save image as) and upload them to your own server. PLEASE do not mix and match my sets with my work or that of anyone else.

How To Copy/Paste

In order to copy/paste:

1. To highlight, place your mouse cursor to the left of the text you would like to copy. Hold down your left mouse button and drag it over the text you wish to highlight. Release your mouse button. You will see the text is now highlighted.
2. Click on edit. Click on Copy. Your text is now copied.
3. Move to the document or area where you want to place the text. Left click your mouse to place your cursor where you want it pasted.
4. Click on edit. Click on Paste.

The text has now been moved without having to spend all that time typing it in. You will find this to be a very helpful trick when doing your webpages.

Border Background Placement

To use a border design on your web pages so that your text is aligned correctly for Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers, this is the code I use in my HTML document just after the body background and text color tags:

<TABLE BORDER=0 WIDTH=100% CELLPADDING=0 CELLSPACING=0 align=left> <tr><TD width=18%><BR></TD><TD>

You can still use this method by adjusting the table width. If your content is still not aligned correctly, decrease the table width. At the very end of your page, just before the closing body & html tags, close your table like this:

Aligning Type on Side of Images

So you want to know how to align type to the left or right of an image. You need to specify that your font is aligned to the right or left, and your gif to the opposite side- Simply put:

<:img src="__________" width="____" height="_________" border="0" alt="name of graphic" align="left">

You can put align="right" if you want your graphic on the right side of your information.This makes for a very attractive page if you can have a gif on one side and information on the other side.


Putting a Midi on Your Page

First you must upload the midi file to your file manager. To put a midi on your page that will play constantly, place this code in your HTML document:

<bgsound="song.mid"><embed src="song.mid" autostart=true controls width=51 height=15 controls=smallconsole loop=true></embed>

Be sure you change the word song to the name of your midi file. If you don't want the song to continually play, change the "loop=true" to "loop=false".

To AOL Users

From the emails I am receiving, I understand that there is alot of confusion about graphics and building webpages for those of you on AOL. For some help and explanation to AOL users you may want to visit this page: Web Development on America Online.

If you are viewing my site with AOL's browser, it looks like the words are on top of my border backgrounds. I can't tell you how many emails I have received about this and I understand your frustrations, as it is frustrating to me as well and I would suggest that you try using another browser with AOL or downloading AOL's upgraded browser at KEYWORD - BROWSER and you will see the difference. If you choose not to do this, please keep in mind that this site is correctly viewed by those not on AOL, so please do not send me angry emails. I can't fix the problem for you, hopefully you can fix it though by making a few changes.

For those of you on a MAC, click-HOLD when you are over the image of your choice, then save to your hard drive.
