THE PLAGUE

"Bring out your dead. Bring out your dead."

Not a pleasant way to awaken in the morning, but very common for people who lived during the Middle Ages. One theory has it that the plague became so pervasive due to the great cat slaughters of the Inquisitions and Witch Hunts. Another is that the plague flourished because of the unhygenic practices of times past. A third proposes that the plagues were sent by God, as punishment for the wicked, the heretic, and the "unfaithful" clergy. Here you will find histories and chronologies of the plague, as well as documents detailing its effect upon the various eras and societies it decimated. A word of warning---the plague is not only a spectre from the past. It is still of concern to modern, "civilized" naions today---for example, the city of Los Angeles in the USA is on a constant 24-hour plague-alert watch---thankfully, though, plague can be treated now, with full recovery by the affected victim.
