Beautiful arrangements, beautiful playing, beautiful people! I saw/met this band (which hails from Canberra, Australia) at the '98/99 Woodford Folk Festival , and I believe that they are without question, one of the most interesting & appealing klezmer bands in the world. Their line-up automatically makes them unique: Cimbalom (finally, a klezmer band with Cimbalom!), Cello (Jules Thompson is rivetting to watch/hear), 2 violins, percussion, and guitar. Their sound beautifully balances a classical approach, with fun/intelligent arrangements; as such, they remind me of French Group "Les Yeux Noirs" , which is really the greatest complement I can pay! Closet Klezmer's music is soulful, energetic, and quite gloriously beautiful.
