orn of musical parents in Moscow in 1946, Eddie acquired a scholarship to the prestigious Gnessin Institute of Music & learned piano, accordion, saxophone, clarinet & flute. Jazz was considered Western & anti-Soviet & at 25 Eddie left Russia, to pursue his musical career. Eddie has been a teacher of music and a professional musician spanning a 40 year career, beginning in Moscow & continuing in Tel Aviv, New York City, Florida and finally Australia where he has become a key figure in Australian improvised music. Outside of Monsieur Camembert, Eddie can be seen with the Bronson/Evans Quintet, playing compositions by Bronson & fellow saxophonists Sandy Evans and Andrew Robson.Eddie’s sax-playing has been described by the Sydney Morning Herald as“one of the most arresting sounds in Australian music” (John Shand, 4/10/99)
