Tuesdee
Who?
The
most common comment I've heard when people
learn
my name is Tuesdee, is,
"You
must have been born on a Tuesday."
When
I can't verify their initial theory the second most
common
comment is,
"Well,
you don't look like a Tuesdee."
This
confuses me.
I
look in the mirror and mentally try on other names.
Names
like
Stephanie,
Melissa and Melanie.
These
are some of the names on my parent's list that they
couldn't
quite agree upon. My mother reached
out
into left field and came up with Tuesday.
My
father was either very impressed or stunned into
submission.
It wasn't until a family member
learned
of the idea and cringed, threatening to call me,
"Toots",
that my name was subtly modified.
As
a child I would come home from school
sobbing
and tell my mother to
please
change my name to Cathy, Mary or Susan,
my
female equivalent of Tom, Dick or Harry.
I
demanded to know why I was named Tuesdee, and the
answer
was always the same.
"No
one will ever say, 'Tuesdee who?'"
But
I didn't want to be noticed. I didn't want to
be
different. I was like a baby Harp seal trying to blend in,
but
spray painted for my own good. Blissfully
friends
and family affectionately called me Tues since
I
can remember, and I've brought this nickname
to
the world of chat where nicks are our faces
and
reflect our personalities. Here at least
I
look like a Tuesdee, or so I'm told until I send out my pic.
*LOL*
I
believe that names hold the key to many answers
as
to how we evolve into adults and what I realize now is
I
needed to grow into Tuesdee.
The
child in me may never outgrow those seven letters,
and
despite now knowing that it's not original and
I
share my name with others, I'm still
no
ordinary Joe.

But,
Sinbad made it in comedy!
His
parents named him Sinbad.
He
had two choices,a comedian or a
pirate!
