Ά Ά Ά It is a special day this year as "MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY" is being observed on of all days, my darling and my 40h wedding anniversary. October 23, 1959 certainly made a difference for me --- a GOOD one too !
All Americans are being urged to spend part of the day this year helping others. {We should be doing it everyday anyhow !} It is not to early to start planning {and doing} !

Ά Ά Ά PITTSBURGH, PENNSLYVANIA is a city I have loved all my life. Even back in the days when it was unfortunately known as the great industrial "SMOKEY CITY" it had "class" !
€ It was so bad in the area when your clothes got dirty just walking down the street. Smoke spilled from the stacks of the many steel mills then filling the river valley's of the Monongahela, Allegheny, and Ohio Rivers along with the smoke from mostly home coal burning furnances, river steamboats, and railroads.
€ PITTSBURGHERS and the people of surrounding Western Pennslyvania were proud of the fact that if any American product had iron or steel in it, it probably came from one of the areas mills ! It was often the ethnic diversity of the area that helped make this pride --many workers in the mills and the coal mines (many European immigrants) that helped this exist for they were happy for the opportunity to have the dirty hard work in these industries !
