The ball-hitch piece measured 12 inches in width. With the strut pieces and connection pieces already welded and attached to the struts I tack welded the ball-hitch piece to the connection pieces. I had to do this by holding the ball-hitch piece with my hand (weld glove was used). Again, I removed the tacked pieces and completed the welds. After review of the completed welds there was some flex that I felt was unacceptable. As you can see, there are triangle pieces welded in each corner to support the ball-hitch piece. NOTE: When I purchased the metal from my supplier they punched the hole for the ball-hitch for me. This saved alot of time and grief.
