I bought the bike new at Andy's Honda in Hazard,KY. It retailed for about $1700(in 1976) . I rode it that summer and that winter I took off the motor and the front and rear brakes. Discarded what was left and set down to figure out what I needed. The bike was built with an Amen Savior frame and a Calif. Girder front end. The frame and girder combo gave 20 degree more rake that stock! The chrome work was done in Ocola Fla.. The only engine mods were the K&N air filter and re-jet of the carbs. I made my own wire harness and all wiring was run through the frame. (the machine shop where I worked made some of the parts for me to my specs.) The spring of '77 caught me before the bike was completed and a rush job was on to finish it and that summer it wore a coat of black paint. The winter of '77 got the bike some corrections and a new paint job. The pics don't show the details, but the bike is black with a sprinkle of blue flakes. The pinstripe are silver flake and the blue is candy apple over silver flake . Paint was from Metalflake Corp. and was applied by myself. Total cost of the bike not counting my labor was about $4000. Try to build a chop or any kind for that today!

The state of KY at that time required that all vehicles pass a state inspection. One of the requirements for motorcycles was that they have a front fender, which you could see mine didn't. The inspection was to be done at the local bike shop. To get around this I went first to the parts department and ask to look at a plastic front fender for a dirt bike and told the parts man I needed to take it to the parking lot to see if it would work. I took the fender and put it between the legs of the girder and taped it in place with duct tape. Then I went in to get the inspection guy who looked a little confused but passed the bike any way. I took the fender off, returned it to the parts dept., thanked everybody and rode off with my now street legal chopper!
