"Being Without A Ride"
Article by "ToolJunke"

An internet and chopper enthusist friend of mine Redbird posed a very interesting question the other day. What would it be like if you lost your ride for a while. Or in other words if you couldn't get out on your scoot, for instance broke down etc. Well I know that feeling all too well. After spending 3 years building my Triumph (resurecting it from the dead is more like it) I been forced to sit on the sidelines for the better part of this year, after my Trumpet spun a bearing. It's been down mainly from lack of ching in my pocket.

As it just so happens I have a major four lane highway running directly behind my house. And it just kills me when I see 50 to 100 bikes a day ride by everyday. And as anybody that has been around bikes for any length of time can tell you that you can hear one coming from a mile away ,whether it's a Harley or a Honda etc.It doesn't even have to have loud pipes you can still hear it screaming up the highway.Whenever I'm out in the backyard or out in my shop and one comes flying by ,only one word comes to mind "Asshole" Not because his(or hers) is nicer or faster than mine.Or because they did anything wrong ,it's just because theirs runs and mine doesn't.

The weekend warriors as I call them ( You know the type, the ones who only get on 70 or 80 degree days to ride their $25,000 bikes)Any way the weekend warriors don't understand what it's like to go without your scoot for a while. An avid rider needs his "fix",it's kinda like a drug or sex. You feel like your the only one in the world with this problem and there ain't nuthin in this world gonna cure it but to get on a bike and ride. You may even stoop so low as to accept a chance to ride a mini-bike from one of the neighborhood kids just to get your "fix".I know I sound like I'm down on people who can afford a really nice bike but it's not that,I just don't like it when people only buy the high dollar bikes just because it the"in" thing to do.

Their are guys & (yes women too) who like to get out on their scoots any time they can no matter what the weather is like.Although I have to admit it is a bitch to ride in the rain or snow.Having rain hit you in the face like needles doesn't feel the greatest in the world. If you still don't know what I'm talking or feeling like ,take the keys to your scoot and give them to someone to hold for you for a couple of weeks and don't ride anything during that time and you will soon find out what I've been saying.
