THE CROSSROADS OF THE CARDS

~THE CROSSROAD OF THE CARDS~

For the previous part of this story go to Warm Welcome?.

Didisus started to shuffle the Arcane Arcana. Crafted centuries ago after the first pack made by Sagin's prophetic daughter, it gave indications of one's place in the World Waterrimmed...past, present, and future.

She laid out a pattern of cards, called the Crossroads by those skilled in the Art, and found it most interesting. The Goblin card indicated her origins, and it meant Hiding. Recent history was the Ship card, which meant travel. Next, though...for her immediate future...The Circle card, which meant Protection. Then, a little more in the future, the intermediate future, was a more sinister card...the Cerebus card, which meant Warning. And the final card, her ultimate destination, was interesting: the Pentagram card, which meant a Summoning.

A Summoning by who? A Summoning by what?

Whatever happened...it had to be better what she escaped from. She looked at the scars on her hands, given to her by her "loving" husband.

Her ex husband.

Her deceased husband.

She looked around her surroundings, at a small statue of Thron, Kon of Battle and Bloodlust. A woman in armor, with a helmet with batwings on it and a pretty face-- with long vampire fangs.

Nevertheless, she felt safer here than she had ever felt with him. She would have felt safer in a cave of wampyrs and ghouls than with him. She would have felt safer falling off the edge of the World Waterrimmed--then with him.
