Step 1 "The Head"

1. First, take off the black plastic cover ( on the bottom of the head ) You might have to pry this off with a screw-driver, if you do, the plastic cover will break into a million peace's. But that really doesnt matter becouse you dont need it anyway.

2. Use a small saw or a hack saw, to saw off the black handle around his "lips" This is kinda hard to do, You risk scraching verious things, but if you take your time and WHATCH WHERE YOU ARE SAWING, so that you dont scrach it.

3. Next, paint the outside of his mouth silver. Take your silver or grey spray paint and spray it on the wax paper, get your paint brush and use what you sprayed on the wax paper to paint ( You have to paint it fast or the paint will dry on the wax paper ! ) now begin painting. Put a small peice of wax paper inbetween Tom's "lip's" so that you dont paint his mouth shut.

4. Once the silver paint has dryed, take your bottled black paint and paint inside Tom's mouth, so that when you open Tom's mouth, you can only see black. ( you can close his mouth while you wait for it to dry, but take off the red cap on the top of his head for ventalation )

Tom's head is now done !

STEP 2 "The Hoverskirt"

1. Take your bowl, and if its not already white, paint it white. Then you need to cut a hole on the bottom of the bowl about 4 and 1 half in. in diameter.

2. Next, take your pipe insulation tubeing, and put it around the edge of the bowl it should go all the way around the bowl without overlaping. ( If you dont understand what I mean, find a picture of Tom and look at his hoverskirt )

3. If you have them, get your Tyco Turbo Trains. ( I am going to call them 3T to save time typeing ) you should have about 4 or 5 of them, and glue them to your bowl so that they are the same distance apart from each other. ( My Tom Servo does not have 3T's I cant find them.)

Tom Servo's hoverskirt is done, IMPORTANT: Do not attach the hoverskirt yet, I will tell you when its time.

"Body and arm assembly"

The body,

1. If your barrel is not already red, paint it red. TIP: If your barrel is hollo, you can try painting the inside of the barrel. It may prevent paint from being scratched off.

2. While you are waiting for the paint to dry, If you used the barrel that I did or something like it, it should have a lid that can be screwed on the top, cut a hole in the lid that's big enough for your 31 and 1 half in. PVC pipe to fit through. ( The hole should be in the middle of the lid )

3. Once your barrel is dry, cut a hole on the opposite side of the barrel that the lid go's on ( The bottom of the barrel ) The hole should be 1 and 1 fourth in. in diameeter. ( This should be in the middle too )

The main barrel assembly is done! Now, to the arms...

1. If you doll hands arnt already white, paint them white.

2. Take your Slinky Jr.'s and glue them to your 45 degree angle PVC pipe's,The slinky's should fit around the 45 degree angle PVC pipe snuggly.

3. Once the paint on the doll hands is dry, glue them to the other side of the slinky.

4. Take your 1970's Raovac flashlight hoods, and cut a hole in the middle of them that is big enough for your 45 degree angle PVC pipes to fit in. Cut two more holes in the barrel about 1 half inch from the end of the barrel with the 1 and 1 fourth inch hole in it so that they are the same size as the holes you cut in your flashlight hoods. Now, glue the flashlight hood to the barrel so that bolth of the holes ( On the flashlight hoods and barrel ) are visable.

5. Push the arm assembly through the flashlight hood and into the barrel and glue them there.

TUH-DUH!!! Toms barrel and arms are done! Now the arms should be attached to the barrel, and all of the holes in the barrel are cut! Lets move on to the next step...

Step 4 "The inner workings"

NOTE: This is the last step to Tom Servo. But, It is going to be very hard to understand scince I cant add pictures in (I dont have a scanner) So bear with me, and if you have any questions, e-mail me.

1. Take Toms head. Look in the bottom (Where you cut out the black cover on step 1) you should see, a large bump type thing with a spring attached to it. This "bump" is Toms mouth and the spring is what keeps his mouth closed after you open it. Now, on the OPOSITE side of where the "bump" is, your going to take your small screw eye and drill a hole as far away from the "bump" as possiable. you are going to put the screw eye in the hole (Make sure it fits snuggly)

2. Take your fishing line and cut off a piece about 45 inches long. Take one end of the fishing line and tie it to the end of the spring CLOSEST to the "bump" Now, feed the fishing line through the screw eye.

3. Turn Tomshead right side up now. Pull on the fishing line. Does Toms mouth open and close? If so, you've done a great job!!

Ok you can put Toms head away for now. Now we are going to get into fixing the PVC pipe up.

1. Take your #2 PVC pipe (#2 on the list of PVC pipe) Notice that the #2 PVC pipe is the same diameeter as the inside of Toms head. This piece of PVC pipe will go into Toms head. But, remember that that "bump" is still there. So in order for the PVC pipe to fit inside there, we will need to cut away at the pipe to make it fit in. Start cutting at the side without the threds (The threds should be on the inside) There are no real sizes that you need to cut, just keep cutting untill it fits in.

2. Now that that is done, get your sticky velcro tape. And put about 3 inches on the oposit side of the part that you cut into. Pretend that this is a top view of your PVC pipe: This is the side with the cut > O < This is where you will put the sticky velcro tape.

3. Now, you should be able to put PVC pipe #2 inside the bottom of Toms head, and you have the velcrow on that PVC pipe. But what about the other piece of velcrow? Thats why we have this step! Take another 3 inch piece of velcrow, and put it inside Toms head. (On the oposite side of the "bump") Now, you should be able to put PVC pipe #2 inside Toms head and turn the head right-side-up and the PVC pip wont fall out becouse the velcrow is holding it together.

4. Take your PVC pipe REDUCER and insert your 31½ in. PVC pipe into the reduced part. Now, put the oposite side of the REDUCER into the side without the male connector on PVC pipe #3. Take the thing that you just assembled and put the male connector (on the top) throught the hole on the bottom of your barrel (The 31½ inch pipe should stick out of the lid of the barrel. So all that is showing is the male connector on the top and the 31½ inch pipe sticking out of the bottom) Now screw on the head (PVC pipe #2 should be in the head when you screw it on) Before you screw on the head, thred the fishing line down the pipes. And then screw on the head. Now you should be able to pull the fishing line and Toms mouth will still open with the barrel on.

5. Glue the bowl on.

6. Guess what? TOM SERVO IS DONE!!! Its REALLY hard to understand, I know. But if you have any questions e-mail me.
