A literary advisor to the Electronic Literature Organization, Carolyn Guertin http://www.ualberta.ca/~cguertin/Guertin.htm is a scholar of the new media arts, the technologies of memory and the feminist avant-garde at the University of Alberta. Curator of Assemblage: The Women's New Media Gallery http://trace.ntu.ac.uk/traced/guertin/assemblage.htm in the U.K., her own creative and critical works have been published internationally in print and online. In September of 1999, she was hit by a truck while cycling to work. Recovering from multiple spinal cord injuries, she rejected her doctors' suggestions to 'learn to live with less,' retaught her right side how to function and is once again leading a full and productive life.
