The Balcony of Kawaii Couples
Being the hopeless romantic that I am, this is my tribute to some the best couples in anime. Well, in my opinion at least.
Serenity/Tsukino Usagi and Endymion/Chiba Mamoru... Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon
As I've mentioned before, Sailor Moon was the first anime I ever experienced, and thus it is the yardstick that I measure all other anime against. In my mind, there is absolutely no way to beat the star-crossed story of Serenity and Endymion. They practically wrote the book on destined romances. :::Sigh::: I'm waxing philosophic again. Anyway, they are the *best* couple in the world. Two halves of a whole. Apart, they can never survive... but together, they can accomplish anything.
Yuuki Miaka and Tamahome/Sukinami Taka... Fushigi Yuugi
Ah, here's another good couple. The pretty much had the whole love-at-first-sight thing working for them, but they were too stubborn to admit it at first. Well, Miaka had Hotohori-sama to deal with, and Tamahome was just being a jerk. But eventually, love triumphed. Even though they kept breaking up with each other, their hearts knew the truth and brought them together. Their wishes were strong enough to bring Tamahome to the real world so they could be together.
Shidou Hikaru, Kailu Lantis, and Eagle Vision... Magic Knight Rayearth
I know what you're thinking. Whay the heck are there *three* people in this picture, when this is the Balcony of Kawaii Couples, right? Well, that's because I think these three are a kawaii trio, polyamory aside. Lantis and Eagle happen to be the best of friends, yet they both fall in love with the same girl, Hikaru. Besides, at the end of the Rayearth manga, when asked who she wants to marry, Hikaru answers without hesitation: Lantis and Eagle! And why not? She's the last Pillar of Cephiro. Why shouldn't she get to be with the two people she loves most? They'll all be happy together!
Kanzaki Hitomi and Van Slanzar de Fanel... Tenkuu no Escaflowne
Oh, here's a fun couple. Their love came upom them gradually, and it wasn't until they were separated that they realized how much they needed each other. I nearly drove myself insane trying to figure out who Hitomi would end up with. And this scene?!? DAMN! I really thought that they were going to kiss! Shimatta! I'm only hoping that the Escaflowne movie will make the right the decision and have them say "daisuke yo" or "aishiteru" or something! I don't care if they kiss, I just want them to say I love you!.
Koishikawa Miki and Matsuura Yuu... Marmalade Boy
This is one of the stranger couples, but one that I fully support. I mean, it's not everyday that your parents divorce, swap partners with another couple, and then you end up falling for your step-sibling. It's okay isn't it? There's no blood relation and all. Besides, they are just so kawaii together. They have to go through all sorts of crap to be together, so why shouldn't they get to be happy?
Tendo Akane and Saotome Ranma... Ranma Nibunnoichi
Whoa, I'm asking for it with this one, aren't I? Nevertheless, Ranma and Akane are the perfect example of a couple that transcends their first impression and actually goes through the process of falling in love, not just love at first sight. When they were engaged by their fathers, they hated each other. But, it's obvious with the way Ranma protects Akane and the way Akane always gets so jealous that they love each other. Now, it's just a matter of their stubborn prides and they can be happy together! Oh... right... the other fiances...
Ten'ou Haruka and Kaiou Michiru... Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon
I can't believe that I almost neglected to put *this* starring couple on the Balcony! Haruka and Michiru are one of my fave couples, and they are just so... right... for each other. Heck, even Hotaru calls them "Haruka-papa" and "Michiru-mama"... what else do you need? Besides, these two would die for each other, and you've got to love the verbal interplay between them.
Go back to the Rupus Room before the lovey-dovey stuff sucks you in!
