Personality/Other: note that Hotaru was reincarnated as a baby after the Pharaoh 90 Invasion, in the six months after that her growth accelerated her to the age of 12. Hotaru also has the ability to heal others, but not herself. She also has a sort of strange psychic power of projection, which comes to play after her rebirth. In Manga 14, Act 35, Hotaru is seen going into a trance where she projects the creation of the galaxy. Haruka was guiding the exercise and acting as a "moderator."

Hotaru possesses the powers of death and rebirth, and is the counter to Usagi's creation and healing powers. In fact, Hotaru is the strongest Senshi after Usagi. She is usually a cheerful girl, but is sometimes struck by fits of depression. When we first see her, she is weak-bodied and sickly due to the fact that she was a cyborg (created by her father, supposedly to save her life) and possessed by Mistress 9 (again, supposedly to save her life).

After her rebirth she is a normal girl. In both lives she was friends with Small Lady (Chibi Usa), and she protects the Neo Princess very fiercely. Hotaru used to go to Mugen Gakuen (Infinity School), a famous school filled with celebrities and Olympic athletes, before it blew up because her father was the president of the school. Now she goes to Juuban Elementary School.
Hotaru has a strange hobby of collecting lamps, which relates to her name "Firefly." Hotaru is a rather smart girl, and likes to read, especially poetry. She has also been taught to play the violin by Michiru. She wears black a lot, a trend that started when she was a cyborg to cover up the many scars she had on her arms and legs. There are occasions when Hotaru's eyes cloud over and her gaze turns cold, this is because of Saturn's unwavering stare and uncaring nature.
But, Hotaru is a naturally nice person and saved the Amazoness Quartet from death in Manga 15, Act 45.
Saturn has control over the Silence Glaive, which is the weapon of the Goddess of Death. It is a double-bladed weapon over seven feet in length, and she has a habit of twirling it around or pointing it menacingly at other people.
Also, though the Outer Senshi per se do not rely on a leader because of their independence, Saturn takes over the leadership of the Outers when she awakens during the Dead Moon Circus attack. Though there is a sort of rivalry between the Inner and Outer Senshi, everything was resolved during the Dead Moon Circus attack when Saturn took up leadership of the Outer Senshi and they all received their new missions. The Inners and the Outers now work very well with each other, though there are a few scraps sometimes. The Outers are still rather individualistic, while the Inners like to work as a team.
Saturn's main purpose is to destroy the world and bring the Silence. It was Sailor Saturn who *really* ended the Silver Millennium. She was called by the three Outer Senshi and brought the Silence to end the suffering of the remaining people. After using her forbidden attack, the Death Reborn Revolution, she is killed as well, and then waits until she is reincarnated and called again to destroy humanity.
Her planet sigil, a stylized "h" (Saturn), appears in the middle of her forehead.
