How You Can Help
You can support The Saturday Tutoring Program by volunteering as a tutor or helping in these ways:
VOLUNTEER
Be a Tutor!
The Saturday Tutoring Program provides free tutoring for students in grades 1-12 from school districts throughout Greater Cleveland. Tutors are needed on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon at The Church of the Covenant (11205 Euclid Avenue) in University Circle. Visit For Tutors to "meet" some of our volunteers and to learn how to get started.
Done-in-a-Day Opportunities
Organizations often choose our site for one-day service projects. After attending a brief orientation/training session at 9:15 a.m., the volunteers tutor students from 10 a.m. to noon. During the Fall 2009 semester, more community groups participated in this worthwhile activity than ever before. Contact us to make arrangements for your group!
DONATE
Use GoodSearch & GoodShop

Your tax-deductible contribution will help us provide the best tutoring experience for our students and volunteers. For more details or to donate, please contact us.
$25 = | RTA bus tickets for a student to attend 11 tutoring sessions |
$50 = | Three SAT/ACT workbooks to add our collection of college-prep materials |
$150 = | One semester of automated phone reminders for keeping in touch with all of our students' families |
$400 = | Refreshments for one month. Refreshment breaks create
bonding time for tutors and students. |
$1000 = | A stipend for one Assistant to the Director for one year |
Sponsor an Assistant
Donate toward stipends for two Assistants to the Director who will carry out essential tasks to keep this BIG program running smoothly. The assistants, who will have prior Saturday Tutoring Program experience, will be making a difference and strengthening their leadership, organizational, communication, and technology skills. This experience may also inspire the assistants to a lifetime of service as they learn about urban issues and form ties in the Cleveland community. For more details or to contribute toward the assistants' stipends, please contact us.
Donate School Supplies
The Saturday Tutoring Program stockpiles school supplies for "Giveaway Days" when students can choose items they need to succeed, including calendars, pocket folders, spiral notebooks, 3-hole notebook paper, pencils, pens, and backpacks. New and gently-used items are acceptable. Drop off donations in the church office (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., or by appointment).
Donate Books
We are grateful for donations of new and gently-used books for readers in grades 1-12. Sometimes we add the books to our resource library for students and tutors to read together on Saturday mornings. Sometimes during a "Giveaway Day," students choose a book or two to take home and keep as their very own. Inspire kids to love reading! Drop off your donations in the church office (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., or by appointment).
