Everything you wanted to know about me,

but were afraid to ask.

My name: Brook. My father wanted to have "made in Korea" tattooed across my bum, because I was, technically, made there. Of course, he wanted to name me Bertha too…so, that should tell you a little something about my family. To make a long story short, I was born in Sierra Vista, Arizona at Raymond W. Bliss Army Hospital, Ft. Huachuca. I bet you can't say that three times fast! The blessed day of my birth was December 9, 1975, which means I just had my 23rd birthday, YAY me. That day will one day be a national holiday, so mark your calendars now!

I am from a little town called Appling. I have lived there my entire life, which is odd, because the first thing people comment upon when they meet me is my southern accent, or lack of one I should say. I don't know where it went, except that I think I left it in my other pants pocket. It was there one day, and the next, I was branded a northerner. But, back to Appling. It has to be one of the smallest towns in the world, if you're driving through the part that is "down town" you'd miss it if you have a sneezing fit. To its credit, it does have one flashing red light. Appling is located right outside of Augusta, GA…home of the Masters Golf Tournament. I guess that's the area's claim to fame…there isn't much else, except a bunch of nice houses and ante-bellum museums and all of that jazz. Just ask any southerner about the Civil War, er, the War of Northern Aggression. Seriously, though, Augusta is a great place to live. It's pretty, it's quiet, and I live here, so that's all the reason ya need!

That's enough about all of that. It's pretty cut and dry. My parents are still married and my younger brother who gets older and older every time I see him all live in the old homestead. So I had one of those All-American kinda childhoods. Well, if you call the rest of my family, family that is. I can honestly say that I have only 3 normal relatives. I think my end of the gene pool got all those genes. You might ask what I look like.. Well, I look like every other woman in america.. two arms, two legs, two eyes and all.. there's a picture of me if you are insatiably curious and haven't peeked already..though I would exercise some caution there… What do I like to do with my spare time? The answer is always the same: everything normal people like to do. That's probably my problem…I am just normal. I don't know when that started either, as I have always considered myself a bit eccentric. But, as for the normal stuff here goes. I am an avid bookworm. I've always read anything you put in front of me, including encyclopedias and shampoo bottles. I guess that's a good reason why I am an English major. Of course, I am also a rational thinker (if I've had my sleep that is…) and so I am also a Communications Major. I also like to go hiking or camping or other suitably outdoorsy stuff. I have a kitty, her name is Jezebel (long story, and you prolly don't wanna know..) and she is a demon seed. For the rest, there's a list of some stuff at the bottom of the page. Moving on.. what do I wanna do with my life? Another good question..

My goal (besides having two worthless degrees) is to go to Business School and then Law School if someone will have me (guess I am a mashochist). I've always wanted to go to Columbia Law in New York, but I don't know why an Ivy League school would want a Mercer kid. Which is, by the way, where I went to school…that link should be on my resume page. I've also devoted 8 (count em, 8) years of my life to debating which takes up a majority of my free time, that and working as a leasing agent at a cushy aprtment complex. I also like computers, in fact I just got a new one (which is really my first computer, but don't tell anyone). I have spent enough time in the computer labs at school that I should have an honorary computer science degree. Unfortunately, Mercer just doesn't hand out degrees for free, otherwise I might be in line for a psychology degree too. Mercer..i could go on for hours..most about how I think my tuition money single handedly paid for all the pretty flowers and bushes…no sooner did everything bloom and look nice than they'd rip it up and put in new..so, since I bought the flowers, I took liberty to pick em when ever I wanted to =P

I like all the little things too. Nothing in the world makes me happier than lying on a hillside, toes in the grass, a ring of flowers in my hair staring at the clouds. Well, maybe a plate full of my grandmother's sweet potato casserole, but that's a whole different story. Of course, there's always star gazing, my personal favorite..or walking along the beach..i love the sound of the waves. I'm also a talker. I'll talk to anybody about anything, it doesn't matter to me. I've been called Babbling Brook since I was a kid, but I'll answer to about anything. Of course, my grandfather always said, "Here comes trouble!" That was a pretty big title for a kid of my age to live up to, but I sure tried.

I graduated from Mercer (YAY me) in May 1998. I couldn't handle another year of cafeteria food, so I had to get out as quickly as possible. Actually, I haven't eaten in there in a while, but you know what I mean. I am taking a year off before I go to grad school…I should be taking some classes this coming up spring semester and then entering grad school in the fall. After that, I have plans of financial investment and corporate law. I am not sure of the combination yet, but some where in there, I will eke out an existance (and hopefully a rather cushy one). New update: (well, not so new, but still an update on my webpage..heh) I am living in Athens, Georgia..home of the Georgia Bulldogs (go dawgs!) and I work in Graduate Admissions. Also there may be some plans for founding an investment firm in the near future. Got some extra cash? We'll take care of it for ya :) Athens is also the home of REM, the B52s, Kim Basinger and that Baldwin guy she married and Kenny Rogers. woo.. Additionally, I am taking applications/resume's for the position of shweetie, so email me if you have questions ;)

Another update:It's the year 2000, i am 24 now, I have gotten the job I want and am waiting to move to atlanta. WOO. I don't mean to be vague, ask if you wanna know :)

Finally, an update. It's halfway through 2001. I have been in Atlanta for a year and a half. I am a pretty successful financial advisor with a very large company. Otherwise, nothing has changed. I am still looking for a decent shweetie (see below), my cat is still evil, i still don't get enough sleep, and i am still a bad email pen pal..so get over it :) There's an updated email link below as well...so email me, dammit.

So, without further ado, here is some generic stuff that you might find useful for small talk…

FAVORITES:

Books: Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince), Jonathan Livingston Seagull, Caleb Carr's novels, The Complete Writings of Shakespeare, and anything by Ralph Waldo Emerson, William Blake, Percy Shelley and the other Romantics. I've also just discovered the Robert Jordan series 'The Wheel of Time'. I don't often cross into the fantasy genre, but his books are very rich and complex.

Music: Well, anything except country and hard core rap.. I especially love 80s music (Ah Ha, Chris DeBurgh, Wham!, Duran Duran, Guns N Roses, Def Leppard and all the glam-rockers) plus, 70s rock like The Doors, and The beatles as well as Simon and garfunkel.

Men: Someone who's honest and trustworthy and loyal. I am tired of boys who are pretending to be men. Someone who's not selfish, who doesn't look primarily to his own good in every little decision he makes, someone who's willing to laugh at life. Great conversationalist, witty and intelligent. okay, enough playing around. But, if this sounds like someone you know, lemme know <grin>

General likes: I like honesty, forthrightness, blue skies, daffodils (or any flower, really), good movies, open-mindedness, friendliness, did I mention honesty?? Poetry, literature, good food, travelling, the mountains, the beach…just the normal stuff.

General dislikes: dishonesty, narrow mindedness, did I mention dishonesty?? People who can never see the forest for the trees, whiners (not just a lil whining, but those people who are never satisfied, no matter what), did I mention dishonesty?? Ultra conservative types (and their associates), people who are convinced that everyone else is going to hell, but them.

Movies: My favorite movie is The Princess Bride. Hands down. No questions. However, I am almost equally enamored with The Wizard of Oz, Citizen Kane, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Clue, Legend, Willow, The Goonies, Casablanca, anything by Alfred Hitchcock or Orson Welles, and a lot more that don't come to mind. I am a movie buff, anything that's good film, I enjoy.

Art and the Humanities: Yes, please :) my favorite painter is Monet and a close second is Mary Cassatt. Yes, I know that hardly any one has heard of her, but she was still a great painter. What do they have in common? They're both impressionist painters…that prolly says something about me, I am just not sure what. I also love ballet and opera and the theatre…I took 10 years of dance lessons (ballet, tap, jazz, toe-shoe etc.,) plus some ballroom dancing for 3 years…I am sure there are other things to be mentioned, but I am sure if you're interested, you'll ask me. Likely you aren't, so I'll move on.

Other general interests and topics of conversation: I am very interested in astronomy and that is what I would do were I any better at math. Also, politics, theology (no, I am not a religious person, but I enjoy the conversation nonetheless), well…actually, just about anything that is intellectually stimulating. I hate being bored, so if you have something of interest to discuss *please* oh please talk to me about it. of course, if you mention netsex or something like that, the conversation is pretty much over. So..choose your words wisely : )

Television: I'm not much of a television watcher..i have to confess that I spend some time channel surfing, but I do that much more than I actually watch cable programming. I do have to confess to being an avid cartoon watcher though. My personal favorite is Scooby Doo..the old ones of course. I have a theory that it's all about drugs, so if you're interested in knowing, ask me. I also love the original Bugs Bunny stuff as well as Space Ghost Coast to Coast. I like old vintage programs like the Dukes of Hazzard (I have the board game!) and old 80s sitcomes. I am such a child of the 80s.

Now, as any good southern woman knows, you never reveal too much of yourself, so if you want to know more, you'll have to send me some EMAIL!
