I have had several requests to do a separate RPI for the ECAC N/C/S, and/or to include these teams in the College Division RPI. It would be incorrect and unfair to group most of the these teams with those from the "regular" RPI since their schedules and talent levels are so different. That said, an RPI would be very useful since half of the playoff teams in the N/C/S are selected and seeded not on the number of divisional points they have earned, but on their overall performance within the N/C/S. The RPI rating system ranks 25 mostly D-III teams based on the RPI (Ratings Percentage Index) used by the NCAA D-I selection committee. The RPI formula for each team is: (.35 x winning %) + (.50 x opponent's winning % excluding games with that opponent) + (.15 x opponent's opponents winning % excluding games with that opponent) Only games against opponents in the 25-team pool are included. Note that I am still including Quinnipiac although they are not technically a member of the ECAC N/C/S. Based on 106 games played through 1/12/98: Rank Prev Pct Opp% Op-Op% RPI 1 1 UMass-Dartmouth 1.000 .635 .588 .756 2 2 Bentley .875 .563 .566 .672 3 3 Quinnipiac .955 .479 .569 .659 4 4 Fitchburg State .850 .538 .525 .646 5 5 St. Michael's .800 .477 .582 .606 6 6 Sacred Heart .833 .426 .555 .588 7 7 Fairfield .750 .443 .565 .569 8 8 Wentworth .556 .586 .521 .566 9 9 N.H.
