It's been a long time since I've written an editorial. Some of you are probably wondering why the whole editorial section isn't scrapped. Some of you also are probably a little disappointed in the content of this web site compared to my previous expectations. I hope to clear some of those issues up right here and now.
My original plan was to have news, information, and quality articles on all conferences and divisions. I advertised on numerous College Hockey sites for writers. I signed up more than a dozen. I was ready to explode on the scene of College Hockey sites. But it hasn't worked out that way....
I will start by taking some of the blame. I didn't write as many editorials as I first planned. I didn't finish constructing certain parts of the site like I said I would. And my own weekly column went into the tank.
However, some of my absentee writers deserve some of the blame as well. Some of them never sent an article (in most cases, they never e-mailed me again). A few were nice enough to quit on their own and weren't ticked off about it. Whatever the reasons, it all adds up to one thing: A web site without enough articles. The plan was to sign up writers who would write articles, and I would concentrate on web site maintenance (which is a lot of work). Some of them have responded well (Eric Burton, Chris Lerch, and Valerie Fristachi being among the best). But I would like to have a few more columnists that write on a regular basis.
My plans for the upcoming College Hockey season are a little more down to earth. Here is the agenda for the upcoming summer and the 1998-99 College Hockey season:
1) AN UPGRADED LINKS PAGE---This is already in the works, but there are still some things to be done.
2) MORE COLUMNISTS---And before you sign-up, please make sure that you are 100% serious about it.
3) EDITORIALS ON A MORE REGULAR BASIS---Once a week? Mabye not, but it will be more often than once a year!
4) A "COLLEGE HOCKEY PROMOTIONS" PAGE---It's time to promote College Hockey, and we shouldn't take no for an answer. This page will feature e-mail addresses and web site links where you can promote this great game. Nothing will change if we don't open up our mouths and make ourselves heard. Remember...The Squeaky Weel Gets The Grease!
Those are my main objectives at the moment. If anyone has any suggestions or comments, please don't hesitate to e-mail me at unvarnishedtruth@hotmail.com, and I'll get back to you. I hope I have cleared some things up, and I hope you make a habit of visiting this site throughout the College Hockey season. Later everyone.
