Bob Gray's Bottom 10.

Bob Gray's Bottom 10 (2/3/99)

The top of the Bottom Ten is really starting to sort itself out. The
Broncos of Western Michigan are starting to make a case for number two,
but Union is hanging on at this point. The bottom half of the Bottom
Ten is very fluid, with not a lot separating the 6-10 teams and some of
the honorable mention teams. Merrimack makes its first appearance of the
year, having lost six in a row, including games to Brown and Lowell this
past week. Niagara also gets honorable mention on the strength of its
performances the last 2 weeks against Bottom Ten stalwarts Air Force and
UNO (Niagara was swept by Air Force and split with UNO).

Teams Comments
1. Fairfield (1-17-0, 1-20-0) Lost 2 games by a combined score of 13-1.

2. Union (1-10-1, 3-17-2) Lost to Clarkson and SLU.

3. Western Michigan (2-13-6, 3-16-6) Have lost seven in a row.

4. UNO (6-21-0) Split a series with Niagara.

5. Sacred Heart (5-12-1, 5-14-1) Trounced conference foe Iona by 8-4 and 8-3 scores.

6. Minn-Duluth (3-14-3, 6-19-3) A tough call to leave them at number six, considering
their play versus the Fighting Sioux, but I couldn't find
                                       anybody else to move up.

7. Air Force (10-13-1) Idle.

8. LSSU (5-13-2, 6-17-3) Split with Bowling Green.
Michigan Tech (7-13-0, 7-18-1) Managed only four goals against the
porous Minnesota defense in two losses.

10.Mass-Amherst (3-11-2, 6-16-2) Lost a game to Boston College.
Miami (5-13-4, 7-16-5) A win and tie against Ferris State drops them.
Alaska-Fairbanks (5-16-1, 8-17-1) Close series against Northern Michigan.

Honorable Mention: Army (13-13-1), Boston University (5-9-2, 8-14-2),
Dartmouth (3-8-1, 7-11-1), Merrimack (5-9-1, 9-15-1), Niagara (12-9-2).
