The Gophers Series, Will there be 4,000 fans.
This weekend marks the return of the Gopher Sioux hockey series. The first question I must pose to Fighting Sioux fans is
will there be 4,000 Fans to see a listless Gopher team show up for the annual butt kicking at the hands of the Fighting SIoux,
or will the fans be ice fishing on one of the area lakes. I really believe that the Gophers will be hard pressed to even put
a chink in the armor of the speedy Sioux hockey team after of a sweep of a more superiour C.C. Tiger team.
Last week a fan from the Gophers was talking about a sweep of the Mavs from Minnesota State in reality they had trouble
skating with the Mavs an upstart team that will be giving the WCHA fits next season. I was telling a friend that I do not want
Doug Woog to be fired I like the job he is doing in Minnesota. I look for Woog to get fired at the end of the season as
Minnesota goes through their second losing season in a row. It will be a tough pill for the Minnesota fans to swallow. Will we
see our first Canadian wearing a big M on the his chest.
Sioux Team of Dominance
UND is 47-10-2 since they won the National Championship in 1997. I believe that this Years UND team is even better than
the team that won the title game from BU in 1997. Blais's first year of recruits are now seniors and are hungry for another shot
at a national title. They (the experts) say that it take four years to evaluate a coach and the recruits he brings to a program. I
believe that this years senior class is a good indication of his recruiting ability
Prediction
I believe that the Gophers will put up a fight but the Sioux will be too much as MSC tries to spell the two lines the Gophers
skate against the four lines the Sioux will roll with. In the end Speed kills. Sioux Sweep 4-3 and 8-1.
