    Shake Table

The shake table at the Department of Earthquake Engineering of this University is the only laboratory of our country, where a given earthquake motion can be reproduced for seismic testing of prototypes or models of different systems.

    Salient Features

    Size of platform 3.5m x 3.5m Maximum
    Pay load 20 tonnes
Maximum stroke 300mm in each direction
Data Acquisition On line 16 Channel
Motion Biaxial (one horizontal and one vertical ) or uniaxial matching given acceleration history or response spectra

This facility has been used for and can tackle

    • Seismic testing of power plant equipments
    • Base isolation studies on models of different structures
    • Studies on ferrocement model of water tanks
    • Testing and calibration of strong motion instruments
    • System indentification studies
