The Alumni Day was celebrated on 24th November 1998. A record number of 128 alumni registered on this occasion apart from 80 accompaning ladies. Mrs Shashi Nigam too graced the occasion. The celebrations started with the traditional cricket match between Vice Chancelor's eleven and President's eleven. The match ended in a tie. Family games were also organised for the families of the alumni.

The Vice Chancellor hosted a lunch at the VC lodge for the Alumni and their families. The afternoon was spent by visiting Alumni in taking round of the University, including the E.S. club. Some alumni also visited the Solani Aqueduct.

In the evening the 49th Annual general meeting was held in Civil Engineering department Auditorium. Alumni of the Diamond Jubilee batch (1938), the Golden Jubilee batch(1948), the 1958 batch and the Silver Jubilee batch (1973) we re honoured on the occasion. Prof. Nigam, working president of RUAA welcomed the gathering.Two Souvenirs were released in the honour of Golden and Silver Jubilee batches. During his presidential address Er. H.S. Agrawal, announced the change of logo of Roorkee University Alumni Association. New logo was approved by the general body.

Vice Chancellor informad the house that Er. H.S. Agrawal and Prof. A.K. Mathur, were renominated as President and Secretary for 1998-99. Prof. S.P. Gupt a Conducted the election of other executive committee members.

Special feature of the occasion was a 125 large contingent of University students taking part in the Alumni Day and allied functions. This created an a tmosphere of much needed interaction between past and present trends at the al ma mater. The visiting alumni appreciated the gesture. A dinner was hosted by RUAA for visiting and local alumni & their families.
