    Welding Research Laboratory

Welding Research Laboratory (WRL) was established in the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering in 1981 with the financial and technical assistance of Federal Republic of Germany. University Grants commission (UGC) and U.P. government also provided financial support. WRL is engaged in fulfilling the objectives such as Education, Research and consultancy.

A post graduate course at Master’s level in welding Engineering was started to provide well trained welding Engineers to Indian Industries and to disseminate the vast research, development and applicability information in the field of welding engineering.WRL is well equipped with welding and weld testing facili ties.

    Areas of Activity

    • Research projects sponsored by Indian and German organizations such a DS T, CSIR, Volkswagen Research Foundation have been successfully completed. in WRL .
    • Major consultancy has been provided to SAIL, RDSO, Eicher Tractors, HCL reprographics division, BHEL, Danfose India Ltd. & BARC etc.Consultancy facilities in the field of qualification of welding consumables, nondestructive testing, weld failure investigations, welding producer development for special materials and testing of welding power sources are available.
    • Short term courses are conducted for serving engineers to apprise them with the latest development in welding and weld testing techniques.
