    Institute of Paper Technology, Saharanpur

    The Institute of Paper Technology at Saharanpur- a premier Industry Orie nted technological Institution, is a unique academic department of the Universit y of Roorkee. The Institute was established in the year 1964 with the assistance of the Royal Swedish Government, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh and Government of India to provide training to the pulp and paper industry personnel. The institute had been offering various programmes in Pulp and Paper Technology and Process Instr umentation but with the advent of technology, it was felt necessary to start adv anced courses in pulp and paper technology with more engineering inputs. To achi eve this objective, it was merged with University of Roorkee in the year 1978.


    Areas of Activity

    • The paper laboratory is equipped with all facilities of research and dev elopment including morphological investigations of plant fibers which has been e stablished under a collaborative programme with NIH, Norway.
    • Experimental facilities are available for measuring and optimising vario us parameters required for corrosion prevention and control, analysis of polluta nts, paper surface characterisation.
    • Engaged primarily in teaching, research, consultancy and HRD programme s. Conducted many HRD programmes on site in various mills and at the institute.
    • Offered consultancy to Govt. organizations like Central Excise and Cus toms, Railways, State Transport Corporation, Geological Survey of India.
