Always consult your physician before attempting anything strenuous in regards to your health.
To Avoid Sore, Aching Muscles...
* Take a long hot bath after exercise & add:
- Epsom Salts/Baking Soda and Sea Salt to water 1lb each (3lbs total) to your bath.
- Rosemary/Sage/Thyme equal parts wrapped in a cloth like a tea bag.
* Massage or rub down your muscles and then put your
feet up for 15 min. or more at the end of your exercises.
Proper Care of Your Dance Attire...
* Wash by hand or at least use the gentle cycle if by machine -- drip dry to prolong both the life
and the look of the garments!
* Skirts, if washed by hand and hung to dry may not need to be ironed if once dry, they are
folded in half and half again and rolled from the waist to the end. This will avoid wrinkles in travel
from class to class.
* Shoes, if allowed to air when not in use last longer and stay nicer,
* A mesh type bag with plenty of air flow is an excellent choice to carry your ballet shoes.
Greater Dancing...
* Study the human body -- the more you know about your own body, the better dancer or
instructor you can be.
* Study and listen to music! Getting a feel for rhythm and counting is essential!
* Go to ballet performances, fill yourself up with the joy of dance -- see firsthand what you want to be!
* Visualize yourself doing each step and each exercise perfectly to your own satisfaction --
Imagine excellence, elegance, strength, and grace musically in harmony, etc...
* Dance up to 6 days per week, always allow your body time to rest and rebuild its strength.
* Most importantly, pay attention to your body... give yourself rest when you are in need, work when you are strong --
you will know... Then you can truly enjoy dancing as long as you live!
HAVE FUN!
