Main Page
I know that I've reviewed one of
Ziggy's pages before, but oh well, but here it goes. The design to Pure
Heart's main page and sub-pages involves the use of manga scans of Usagi.
I'm not sure whether Ziggy scanned these herself or not, but if she didn't,
credit should be given. I like the Photoshop filter used on the scan. The
only major problem with this layout is that I didn't know where the links
to the sub sections were. I had to scroll down to find them, actually,
which most of the time isn't a good thing. Also, the effect put on the
image links doesn't go very well with the black background, although it
might look okay on other computers. The grayish-white 3D effect makes the
text look kind of ghostly, which is not something I think Ziggy was going
for.
Sub-Pages
Each of the subpages has a different
kind of layout, excluding the main sub-pages, which all have a similar
layout to the main page. (By the way, Ziggy, I especially like the Usagi
Picture on the info page).
Throughout all of the sections, I
must point out that there are immense spelling mistakes. It's nothing huge,
really, but something that should be recognized and noticed. There was
quite a funny mistake in the Usagi section, actually... "she was known
as a 'heroin'". ^^;;
Most of the sub-page layouts use
a regular patterned background with a white table in the middle, which
works sometimes. For most of these pages, the background used either doesn't
match the title image or is too bright, mostly the latter. I reccomend
making lighter, more pastel backgrounds for all of these pages.
Highlights of the Info section: great
info and opinions on Usagi's seiyuu. I also like the information provided
on her family. The layout is very nice on the Usagi page, and it actually
provides some pretty in depth information. Most bordered tables are misaligned.
To prevent this, you can divide the top and bottom images into 3 sections,
with the same widths as the 3 middle sections. It works a lot better. The
"Difference" section was an original idea taken from someone else. I think
the author may want some credit for their idea, because this section was
almost a carbon copy of theirs, with different pictures. I won't mention
any names.
Highlights of the Media section:
One thing that's missing in this section is credit as to who the media
was taken from. That's a must, hon! Lots of original japanese movies! Yay!
Images are thumbnailed, midis work, and all in all, I'd have to say this
is a section well-done despite some design faults.
Highlights of the Fun section: Once
again, some minor design faults, see above. There are some simple non-related
games to play, not bad. This section includes the Usagi-shrine musts: Seiya
and Minako pages. But what the heck, so much for being original. ^_- Just
kidding, Ziggy... There are some sections here, as well as in the Site
section that aren't done.
Highlights of the Site section: nothing
much, really. Just ways to link Ziggy, and that's pretty much all! Once
again, get those other sections done, and you'll be fine. See the design
reccomendations above.
Positives
-The main pages have a simple and
pretty design.
-Some sections provide some very
in depth information.
-A great multimedia section! I really
enjoyed some of the clips. (Note- you might want to have zip files downloadable
for the Mac too [a la Stuffit Expander])
-Ziggy has learned much more about
design techniques since I last reviewed her page, I'm proud of her. ^_^
Things to Fix
-Like I said before, there _must_
be credit given where needed. Ziggy isn't exactly credit-happy. ^^
-Some of the backgrounds don't match
the title images.
-Many of Ziggy's tables are misaligned,
for more help with tables, I'd see http://www.webmonkey.com.
-Many ideas have been seen before,
originality apparently isn't the key here.
-Incomplete sections.
-Spelling!
Suggestions for the Author
All in all, this site is a big step
up for Ziggy. I'd just fix those minor things above, add a few sections,
and voila! You have your brand spanking new, great page by Ziggy. The only
thing that worries me is the author's tendancy to use other's ideas, but
I won't speak by reputations. Good luck in the future with this site, Ziggy,
I look forward to its completion! |
