THE TROUBLING TRUTH 2: SHOCKED By MoonKlutz “Well?” she asked, puzzled by his silence. “It’s… amazing.” He managed to choke out. “I’ve… got to get going. I was going to meet some friends. I’ll see you latter.” He said, vanishing out the door. “Hmmm… I wonder what that was about?” She put the painting down and pulled out her locket. “It looks like the one in the painting…” she thought aloud. ‘And he almost looks like Darien! What a coincidence…’ she added silently, but Peggy knew what was going through the young girls’ mind. Serena was outside taking a walk that night. It was gorgeous out. She stopped at a small bridge in the park and leaned over the edge, staring out at the water when a familiar head came into view, wavering beside her own reflection. She turned to see Darien standing beside her. “Hi Darien, what are you doing out?” she asked. ‘Looking at you…’ he thought immediately, but smiled and answered, “Just out for a walk. It was so nice out…” he said leaning on the rail also. “Yeah I know. Not to mention that gorgeous crescent moon…” “You like looking at the moon?” Darien asked, turning to face her. “Oh yeah, It’s so… familiar. I don’t know, I’m just drawn to it.” She said, oblivious this time that he was staring at her. Serena froze. The wand was going off again! She looked down at the flashing light showing through her bag. “Umm… that’s my pager. I’ve got to go. Bye Darien!” she called over her shoulder as she ran away. She hoped her subterfuge had worked. It hadn’t. Darien transformed and followed her to Peggy’s house.’ ‘How does she always know where to go?’ he wondered, sticking to the shadows. She peeked in the window and gasped. "She turned Peggy into a monster! I’ve got to be brave… but I’ll call for help.” She backed away from the window and pulled out what looked like a pink calculator. Pressing some buttons, she frowned before speaking into it. “Ami, Rei, Lita, Luna! I need back up now!” she commanded. “Rainbow Crystal Alert! You’ve got my signal Mercury?” “Yes! Right!” came the reply from the calculator. ‘Ami Rei Lita Luna? They must be the other scouts, but isn’t Luna her cat?’ “MOON PRISM POWER!” Darien gaped and then looked away blushing. She was naked! Eek, didn’t that bother her? After she transformed, he followed Sailor moon, who was chasing Zoisite and Peggy the Monster. “That was too easy!” Zoisite gloated. “It’s not over yet!” “Who said that?” she asked, looking around wildly. “I did!” Sailor Moon jumped down from a nearby pile of rubble. “I am Sailor Moon! Champion of Justice! And in the name of The Moon, I’ll Punish You!” She cried out. In a softer voice, almost a plead, she added, “Peggy it’s me! Serena! Come on Peggy…” “ARRRGGHHHH!!!” The Peggy monster took a feather out of her wings. “Feathers?! Oh please don’t say she’s going to tickle me, Oh I just hate that!” Zoisite watched and laughed. “Finish her!” The monster threw the feathers around until they were drawing boulders in the air that magically became real. One almost squished Sailor Moon, but Tuxedo Mask saved her, before chasing Zoisite off into the building for the Rainbow crystal. Again, Sailor Moon had to be saved by the scouts, but then she too took off in pursuit of Tuxedo Mask and Zoisite. When she got there Zoisite was hurling an ice crystal at Tuxedo Mask. “Nooo! Moon Tiara Magic!” Serena threw the glowing discus just in time to save Tuxedo Mask, but Zoisite managed to get the crystal and disappear. “Are, you alright Tuxedo Mask?” Serena asked stepping forward. “Yeah, thanks to you.” He said brushing off his cloak. “I’m so glad…” she stepped forward again, accidentally dropping the locket. They both knelt down to pick it up, but it opened and started to play its timeless tune. “Oh… do you want this back? You dropped it… in a fight.” Tuxedo Mask looked at it up and closed it, handing it back to her. “No, I’d probably just loose it again. I’d better go…” And before she could say anything, he flew off into the night. Sailor Moon turned back to the scouts, and saw that Peggy was greatly weakened. She lifted her wand and… “Moon Healing Activation!” Peggy fell unconscious to the ground in her human form and the scouts left. Serena went back to the bridge. ‘What’s happening? I feel so strange, so familiar, but new. Who am I really?’ “What are you thinking about Serena?” Darien asked her. He had followed her back to the bridge again, but wasn’t completely sure why. “Still here Darien?” she asked. “Yeah.” He answered. “I was just wondering who I really am. Nothing seems to be the same anymore.” She said wistfully. “But isn’t change a good thing?” he asked inching closer to her. “I’m not so sure anymore. I think I was happier before, but I’m just so confused I can’t tell.” She continued. “Before what?” he asked, standing face to face with her and staring into her eyes. “Before Sailor Moon?” Serena was shocked. “What do you mean?” “I mean, are you confused about being a regular girl, or about being Sailor Moon?” “I have no idea what you’re talking about…” she whispered looking away. “Look Serena, I know ok? I’m not here to be a pain, I just want you to see something.” He said with a small pain in his voice. “Like what?” “Like this…” he said leaning over and kissing her gently on the mouth for a moment before pulling away. Serena was surprised. She didn’t say anything. All she could do was stare at him. “Serena?” he asked nervously. ‘What did I just do?!’ “I… I… What?” she managed. Her lips tingled, her stomach swirled restlessly, her legs felt like Jell-O and she stared at Darien wide eyed. (As if their eyes could get much bigger!) “Just think about it ok?” he asked and turned away, going home. Serena watched him silently until he was out of sight. “Now what do I do?” she asked the stars, but they just twinkled, holding no answers for her that night. To be continued….
