The Eagle & The Bear
Story by Two Feathers

Many many moons ago in a emerald forest lived a bear cub.
The bear cub loved his beautiful home full of luscious green trees.
His favorite place was a clearing near the river he would go there
to bask in the sun and catch fish in the ripples.
One day as he was sitting on the river bank he looked up
and saw the most beautiful bird he had ever seen.

It was an Eagle.
Each day as he grew bigger and stronger
he would go to the river and watch for her to fly by.
As time went on he grew to be the
strongest bear in the forest.

But he would still spend everyday sitting
by the river watching for the eagle to fly by...
One day the eagle noticed the bear sitting all alone.
She thought to her self,
he has to be the strongest bear in the forest,
but where is his mate?

She returned day after day wondering
why such a beautiful
strong bear like him came to
the river and sat all alone.

One sunny day brown bear was sitting waiting
for his beautiful lady to fly by,
and when he saw her he cried out to her.
Why do you fly so high in the sky
won't you please come a little closer so I
can see just how beautiful you really are.

The eagle landed in a tree near by,
brown bear went to the tree and
stood up to get a closer look.
The eagle looked down right into
his big brown eyes and said
" You are the strongest
bear in the forest
I can see in your eyes that
you have a gentle heart"
Why do you come here
alone everyday and sit?
Where is your mate ??
Brown bear gently reached up with his
strong paw and said
" I have been waiting for you"

Just then his paw touched her lovely feathers
and as if a magical spell had been cast.
All the forest began to sing.
The Eagle turned into a lovely woman
and brown bear became a
strong but gentle man.
He took her in his arms to hold her close...
even today they walk together thru the forest.
The eagle with her gift to see far ahead
and brown bear with his gift
of strength to protect them.
