With Manderley's, you need not be a tea expert or even a tea-drinker. We handle the critical tasks for you. Our tea selection includes fine Blakc, Oolong, and Green Tea of estate and regional origins. Single Herb Teas, Creative Herbal Blends, Spiced and Iced Teas, and Organic. We carry fine grades of many popular teas for the discrimating tea connosseur, and specialty teas for the gourmet tea drinker.

Manderley's offering of fine fancy specialty bulk teas firmly demonstrates our commitment to this growing demand for top notch teas. Tea has probably been drunk in China from the 28th Century before Christ and certainly since the 10th Century B.C., from which time there remains a written record of its use. Tea is the preferred beverage of about half of the worlds population. The leaf buds and young leaves of the tea plant are used in making tea. Teas are named for the age of the leaves that make up a particular tea variety.

For example, orange pekoe is made from the youngest and most tender leaves, while souchong is compsed of the forth and older leaves.

After being hand picked by highly trained workers, the tea leaves are either dried immediately to produce green teas such as pan fried, hyson, and gunpowder, or partially dried and then allowed to ferment to produce the black teas like pekoe, congou, and souchong. Oolong tea is partially fired and then steamed, thus being an intermediate tea, neither green nor black.

After being sorted, all grades of tea are shipped in foil lined chests to prevent loss of aroma or the absorption of extrameous odors. However, some teas are purposely exposed to the scent of flowers in order to produce flavored teas such as Chinese Green Jasmine.

Tea is one of life's simple pleasures, and a most rewarding one. We acquire fresh, delicious teas directly from the best sources. We carry some of the world's finest loose-leaf teas, an original menu of flavors and styles that changes and grows with the seasons. Flavor is the benchmark of fine tea: it's what counts at auctions and what matters in the cups. For thousands of years tea has filled the need for quiet, social ritual. Today, there's a demand for fine tea, where yesterday any old tea bag would do. it's part of the trend toward healthful livestyles. Manderleys looks forward to helping you meet the exciting challanges of this era. Contact us for flavorful details and more information.
