I am a novice w/puters (1 week) and literley stumbled upon yor page. Looks great and I hope to live long enough to read everything you are putting out plus info about our POW/MIA's and The Wall. Who knows, if I ever learn what I am doing on this thing I might even try talking to someone via e-mail. (Don't hold your breath on that idea). I'll try stumbling onto your page again, and meanwhile keep up the great work. I spent 20 years with ASA, both inside and outside the closed areas: VHFS 55-59 (MP/Spec Svcs); Asmara 59-63 (Spec Svcs/KANU Radio-TV); Ft Devans 64-65 (98C School); 3rd RRU/509th Grp/330th RRC, RSVN 65-66; Homestaed AFB, FL (w/a trip to Ft Devens for 98Z School) 66-68; Det J, Mt Schneeberg, GR 68-70; 313th RRC, 404th RR Det, 173rd Airborne Brigade, (LZ English), RSVN 70-71; and Ft Meade, MD 71-75 and retired April 75. This is my most exciting find on the internet ever. Like most everyone else I started out at Devens in Sept. of 66 and learned how to be a dittybopper. In April of 67 I went to Vint Hill where the 370th had just been created. They didn't have anything for us to do so I seved my time there as an M.P. In Sept. of 67 I moved on to Vietnam. Processed in at the 509th in Siagon, then to the 303rd at Nha Trang then up to the 330th in Pleiku and finally down to Det 2 at Dong Ba Thin just across the bay from Cam Rahn. I don't how you guys can remember all of the names I sure can't. If anyone recognizes mine I would love to hear from you. For that matter I would love to hear from anyone who would like to share memories. Doug Meadows Comments:

Robert J. McCarthy Looking for old friends especially any 059/05K types r.j.mccarthy@worldnet.att.net

Great page. Hope I run into some friends from the past. So far I haven't seen any familiar names but will keep on looking. Quick Background: 6 Years 7 Months 28 Days Active (who was counting) MOS 05K4CJ3H2F2 Got out as a SSG E-6 Devens for school 8/64 - 4/65 VHFS 4/65 - 9/65 Worked on CRISPI USASOU 23 Peshawar Pakistan 9/65 - 3/67 with TDY at TUSLOG Det 27 for 6 months on the way over. We were on an ARPA funded R&D project called Sugar Tree. Had many interesting TDY trips while at SOU 23. NAVCOMMTRACEN NAS Corey Field Pendsacola Florida for what was SC260 at Meade. 3/67 - 10/67 VHFS 10/67 - 12/68 Worked in the duel house trailers/vans with the huge LDAA antenna on the North end of the antenna field. The vans were called the Polystatic Research Lab or PRL still doing Sugar Tree stuff. Many interseting TDYs, one to Sinop Tuslog Det 4 8/68 - 10/68. USASOU 23 12/68 - 9/69 Went back to close out the Unit since we were being kicked out of the country. I came up on orders for Chitose while on TDY to Sinop, the brass decided to cancel those and send me back to Pakistan since I was familiar with the place. I didn't know about Chitose until orders for Pakistan were cut. Actualy Peshawar was a pretty good tour, for a 15 month hardship. Devens 9/69 - 2/71 Assigned to E&MT, Evaluation and MOS Testing. I shouldn't admit it, but I was the SOB who wrote/rewrote the 05K MOS/Propay tests for 70 & 71 as well as the tests for the school. Now before any one wants to hang me let me explain a few things. That 05K slot was vacant for 2 years, tests were done by a 05H, because no one at the school side E6/E7 either wanted the job or were qualified. I arrived, met minimum quals (E-6, MOS scores 130 or above, SC260 school) and was asked to give it a try. More on this later. Got out 2/71 - returned to Denver, Colorado, went to college, have worked in computer/engineering until the present. Worked on many government programs so I still have a TS clearance. Just can't get away from it. Currently disabled and can't work, lung problems (service connected). So far VA hasn't been too bad with my claim (60% now and should get 100 after my review) am also having fun with PTSD since it occurred on a TDY trip to places we never were etc. Enough for now. Next time around I will start listing names in the meantime if anyone remembers me, god or bad, drop me an e-mail. I currently liv in the northwest part of New Jersey on Schoolies Mtn so if anyone is semi local give me a call. 908-850-0507 Bob McCarthy Keep up the good work guys. Comments:
